You can get complete details from the site you joined. Almost all the sites work in the same way. You create an account, create the profile, bid on jobs, win the bid, complete the job and then you get paid.
But there are little differences between websites like Elance and Getafreelancer. Elance have a test that the users must pass. Same for Odesk too.
Overall process is not difficult. Winning the first bid is the hardest thing as a new user. After that everything is so simple.
